A Gender Forum was held from November 9th to 13th. The Gender Forum is a democratic and feminist forum for the public. Some of the experts working at the Women's Shelter participated in the forum and gave a joint presentation discussing children and domestic violence.

Among the participants was Brynhildur Jónsdóttir, psychologist and the operations manager of the Women's Shelter, who discussed the effects of trauma on children's brain development. Here is link to the material from Brynhildur.

Other participants were Bergdís Ýr Guðmundsdóttir social worker which discussed services for children staying in the shelter, Jenný Valberg, sexologist and advisor in the shelter discussed together with two girls about what it's like to be a child in a violent home and Drífa Jónasdóttir, criminologist and project manager at the shelter discussed the results of a study on children from people of foreign origin staying in the shelter but the research was funded by the Minister of Social Affairs and Children's Affairs.
