A Gender Forum was held from November 9th to 13th. The Gender Forum is a democratic and feminist forum for the public. Some of the experts working at the Women's Shelter participated in the forum and gave a joint presentation discussing children and domestic violence.

Among the participants was Brynhildur Jónsdóttir, a psychologist and operations manager at the Women's Shelter, who discussed the effects of trauma on children's brain development. Here is a link to Brynhildur's material.

Other participants were Bergdís Ýr Guðmundsdóttir, a social worker , who discussed services for children staying at the shelter, Jenný Valberg, a sexologist and counselor at the shelter, discussed with two girls what it is like to be a child in a violent home, and Drífa Jónasdóttir, a criminologist and project manager at the shelter, discussed the results of a study on children of foreign origin staying at the shelter, which was funded by the Minister of Social Affairs and Children's Affairs.
