On the occasion of the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Soroptimists in Akranes donated 500.000 ISK to the Women's Shelter for the construction of the shelter's transitional home.

Ása Helgadóttir, chairwoman and Sigríður Kr. Gísladóttir, vice chairwoman of Soroptimist in Akranes presented the grant and Eygló Harðardóttir, project manager of the transitional home, received it on behalf of the Women's Shelter. Anna G. Torfadóttir, chairwoman of the club's fundraising committee, received the pictures.
