The purpose of the Fund is to promote research and development in the field of immigration with the aim to facilitate the integration of immigrants and Icelandic society. Special attention was also paid for the grants to be awarded to projects aimed for children and young people.
The Women’s Shelter received a grant from the Development Fund for Immigration to work on a project related to foreign children who need to stay at the Shelter. The project is called Foreign Children in the Shelter – What Does Mom Say? Its aim is to examine the status of foreign children staying at the shelter, with regard to the type of assistance/help they receive from the system, and furthermore shed a light on their mother’s experiences regarding the matter.
Drífa Jónasdóttir project manager at the shelter, will oversee the project and the results are expected in early 2020.
